Chocolate Banana Ice Cream (Dairy Free)


One of my favorite desserts is ice cream, especially when it’s homemade! We had a milk cow growing up and the homemade ice cream made with that fresh milk and cream….now that is some good stuff! You can imagine (and maybe even relate) to my skepticism when I saw different variations of banana ice cream floating around. I love bananas, but typically not banana flavored foods. I use them often in my smoothies and know they make for a creamy texture so I figured it was worth a try.

I do have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! It had a creamy texture, similar to soft serve, and the chocolate and peanut butter covered almost all the banana flavor. Next time I make this (it was definitely good enough for a next time) I think I will add just a little bit more cocoa and/or peanut butter.

Here’s what I threw together (measurements are approximate since I really did just dump ingredients) 🙂

Chocolate Banana Ice Cream

3 bananas, frozen
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1-2 T peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 T honey (optional)
2-4 T heavy cream, half and half, or coconut milk for dairy free

Mix everything together in a food processor. (Add cream until desired consistency is reached)
Add extra cocoa or peanut butter per taste preferences.
If you don’t like chocolate: leave out the cocoa and add extra peanut butter.
